The Hough Foundation sponsors two choirs at Hough Elementary School. Hough Youth Choir is for third, fourth, and fifth graders. Hough Youth Junior Choir is for students in grades T1, one, and two. Some great reasons to join us are...

  • Our goal is to provide musical training to help each child enjoy a successful experience singing and performing both at school and in the community.

  • The Hough Choir is a place where kids of all abilities can thrive and develop a love of music and performance.

  • We encourage Hough parents and community members to become involved in this program and join us helping our kids become well-rounded individiuals.

Youth Choir at the Festival of Trees 2006

The Hough Choirs will have three performances at Hough School this year. The first was at the Vancouver Rotary Festival of Trees on November 25. Our Youth Choir did a wonderful job, and we were very proud as Mr. Smith encouraged the audience to join our choir singing many well-known holiday songs.

The second performance was the Choirs' Holiday Program on December 7 in the Hough School gym. They performed first at 1:45 pm for an all school assembly, and then at 6:30 pm for the parents and neighbors. The Hough Neighborhood Association again hosted a reception following the performance with cookies and punch for all. This was indeed a community event!

The Choirs presented their two spring performances on March 8, one for students in the afternoon, and again in the evening for parents and community. They also joined the Roosevelt Ambassador Choir at Roosevelt Elementary School the next day, March 9.

Directing the Junior Choir is Mr. Anson Service. Junior Choir practices each Monday and Wednesday from 2:50 to 3:45. Mr. Jerry Smith directs the Youth Choir, and they practice every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:50 to 4:00.
